Ondansetron Hydrochloride
A drug called ondansetron, also known by the trade name Zofran, is used to stop nausea and vomiting brought on by chemotherapy, radiation treatment, or surgery for cancer. Additionally, it works well to treat gastroenteritis. It can be administered orally or by injection into a vein or a muscle.
Diarrhea, constipation, headaches, drowsiness, and itching are typical adverse effects. QT prolongation and a strong allergic response are serious adverse effects. Although it hasn’t been thoroughly researched in this population, it seems to be safe during pregnancy.
Ondansetron overdose has no particular antidote. Patients need to have the proper supportive therapy in order to be controlled.
